About me!

Bryce Hughes is a percussionist, composer, and active music educator from Whiteland, Indiana. He began his musical journey in sixth grade at age 11 and has since developed a passion for music education, performance, and composition. 

Bryce is currently completing his Bachelor of Music Education (B.M.E.) at the University of Indianapolis in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he is set to graduate in Spring 2026. He participates and has participated in various ensembles at the university level, including the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo, Latin Jazz Funk Ensemble, and Pep Band. Additionally, he has volunteered with various community bands in the area, such as the Martinsville Community Band and the Pride of Indy Concert Band. He currently studies percussion with Dr. Terence Mayhue and composition with Dr. John Berners.

As an educator, Bryce's primary goal is to ensure that students have a place where they can feel a sense of belonging while learning musical and general life skills. He currently instructs the front ensemble at Southport High School in Southport, Indiana, and has previously instructed at Edgewood High School and at the Strings and Jazzy Things summer camp.
